Alecto Weather Station - WS-5500

Conclusion:

This weather station from Alecto does what it has to do and that is give you insight into your local weather situation. The following sensors are built in for this:
- Temperature (indoor and outdoor)
- Humidity (indoor and outdoor)
- Air pressure
- Wind speed and wind direction
- Precipitation
- UV and solar radiation

To make this clear, a color screen is included on which you can read everything without taking out your phone. The screen (indoor unit) also has some functions such as showing the maximum and minimum temperature or the average air pressure over 12, 36 and 72 hours. The indoor unit is powered by an adapter and contains 3 AAA batteries as backup (in case of power failure).

The indoor unit makes contact with the outdoor unit via the 866Mhz protocol to receive the different data. The connection to your own network is made via WiFi.

Viewing everything is of course all very nice, but the power of this system lies in the fact that you can connect it to your Smart Home system. This way you can measure whether it is raining and then have a window closed or your awning. You could also measure the wind force to make sure your blinds close on time.

Weather Underground is used to establish this link. You connect this to your weather station and then you can use it in your Smart Home system.

We have tested with the Homey and Home Assistant and this all works as it should.

This weather station is for sale for € 192.00, which is quite an expense. If you compare this to the build quality, we do think that the whole feels a bit plastic. Now this will not make much difference in practice, but you expect something more.

If we are talking about the negatives, then no pole is included. Now you can solve cheaply with a little creativity. We did this, for example, by getting a paddle from the thrift store and using only the aluminum tube. This was sturdy enough and you can hang it fairly high.

Data comes in quickly and well
Good range (you can install it far away)
