Aeotec Smart Home Hub - Smartthings

Installation:

To see what this hub can really do, we are going to install it. We take a look at the manual to see what the steps are and it is noticeable that there are only 5. So it shouldn't be too complicated.

The first step is to supply the whole with power and to put the UTP cable in it. The latter is not necessarily necessary because the hub can also work wirelessly. Now we need to install the Smartthings APP on your phone. An Android and iOS version is available.

After some different screens we arrive at the start screen. It is striking that we do not have to provide a username / password anywhere. Now we go to our devices and click on "add device". And now there will be a registration screen first, so we create an account. You will receive an email to confirm your account.

Registration screens

Now we come back to the home page and press "add device" again. Now we select the hub (WiFi/Hub/Aeotec) and then Smart Home hub (IM6001-v3p). After some screens we need to set the location. This is important to know immediately whether you are away from home or at home.

You can install this hub both wirelessly and wired, this is also the next step in the installation. We select Ethernet (wired) and press next. Now it asks to power the hub. Then wait 5 to 10 min. until the LED flashes red and green.

It was immediately found with us and we have to scan the QR code on the back to register the hub. This took quite a while, but after a few minutes a message will appear that it was successful.

The last step is to install updates. This also takes a few minutes.

Rock and roll:

Now that we have completed the installation, we can actually start using the hub. Using this is of course nice if you have also connected some devices. So this is where we start. We will install different types because this controller has a Z-Wave, WiFi and Zigbee chip built in.
