Fibaro Home Center 3

Google home & Alexa

A good Smart Home system must of course be controlled with your voice in addition to the traditional way of operating. For this, Fibaro has a link with the Google Home and Alexa. We do not have Alexa at our disposal, so we cannot test it, so we test it with the GH.

We use a GH mini gen2 for this. These are already available for around 50 euros, so the costs are not too bad.

Install/link Google Home:
We start with the installation by opening the Google Home app on our phone and following the steps below:

  1. Press the plus sign.
  2. Go to the "Set up device" section.
  3. And choose the bottom option "I have already installed something".
  4. Then search for FIBARO Smart Home
  5. You will then be asked to log in with the Fibaro Home ID.

Now the GH is linked to the HC3 and I can also see my devices on the start screen.

Such a link is very nice, but what exactly can we do?

We can ask the GH for the following things:

Lighting:
"Hey Google ..."
Switch on lamp x
Turn off lamp x
Set lamp x to a specific color

Sensors:
"Hey Google ..."
What is the temperature in room x
Is the door x open?

Scene:
"Hey Google ..."
Start scene x
